Aker Solutions opens a new center at Pune

Pune: Aker Solutions, provider of engineering and construction services, opened a new center at Pune. The center will cater to the engineering design, and supply management needs of Subsea business area, worldwide. It currently holds 140 employees and has plans to expand the head count to 175 by the year end. This facility, which is a part of Aker Solutions' Indian subsidiary, Aker Powergas, is in addition to its existing project execution centre located in the same area, which employs 335 personnel and caters to the process industry in India and abroad. The Subsea business area of Aker Solutions is playing a significant role in the Reliance KG-D6 and MA projects, India's very first deep sea oil and gas production facility. In order to service the cutting edge systems and equipment of these facilities of national importance, the Subsea business area has already set up a service facility in Kakinada. The continuing expansion signifies the strong belief of Aker Solutions in the hydrocarbon production potential of India's continental shelf and its desire to leverage India's intellectual capital and manufacturing capabilities. Aker Powergas, a member of the Process & Construction business area of Aker Solutions, currently employs nearly 1800 specialist engineers and supporting personnel in India. The company is in an expansion mode - equipping itself to meet the growing needs of its customer sectors in India and abroad. Industrial sectors like oil & gas, oil refining, petrochemicals, chemicals, and metals are those that are catered to, worldwide.
