Airtel signs MoU with Nokia Siemens, VeriSign

New Delhi: Bharti Airtel has announced that it has awarded Nokia Siemens Networks a multi million euro pan India contract, to deploy single Interactive Voice Response (IVR) platform across 23 circles. Airtel has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with U.S. based VeriSign, provider of Internet infrastructure.
The three year contract with Nokia Siemens includes designing, planning, systems integration and optimization services to enhance overall customer experience.
The IVR solution will enable Airtel to deliver services such as Voice SMS, Tele-voting, Call Management Services (Reach me service / Missed Call Advisor), Caller Ring back Tone and Voice Portal among others.
Michael Kuehner, Head, Sub-region India, Nokia Siemens Networks, said, "Voice based services will be a key revenue generator and service differentiator in the competitive Indian market. And Nokia Siemens Networks, with its strong product portfolio and extensive experience, is well positioned to address that need."
As per the MoU with VeriSign, Bharti Airtel will become VeriSign's strategic market partner and will deploy VeriSign's services in India. VeriSign said that it would jointly launch with Bharti the security services, to deliver VeriSign's identity protection, managed security and fraud detection services.
This leverages Bharti to develop the next generation Internet infrastructure in the Indian market. These services aim to transform the way enterprises, businesses firms, and consumers harness the power of the Internet and develop new applications that leverage the convergence of mobile and Internet platforms.
