Bangalore: The popular social networking site Facebook has added "send" button to its "Group" feature. By using this button Facebook users will be able to share content with specific groups of friends, rather than everyone on their friends list.
The feature will likely accompany the Like button and allows users to share content with their friends by email, Facebook message or as a post to a Group's wall.
Since the Group feature launched in October 2010, users have created more than 50 million groups. And now the Groups is adding several new features, including the ability to post questions and polls that only members can respond to.
Facebook had launched "Like" button a year before and it was a huge success. The new feature Send button is an outcome of the 'Like' feature, which makes it easy to share user's favorite Web content with friends. The Send feature lets user enter a friend's name, group, or email address, as well as a personal message. It replaces the "email to a friend" button.
This feature also allows user to post questions and polls. Users can upload entire albums of photos to the Group, rather than just individual photos. Facebook also added a control that lets Groups owner approve people before they are added to the group.
Facebook says more than 50 major websites currently feature the Send button, and many more to follow the same.
Elliot Lynde, a Facebook Groups engineer, said that people are using Groups to communicate with many of the important communities in their lives, like their families, best friends, and teammates.
