Difficulties in web development.
My field is expanding in this area so rapidly, I wish all vendors would adhere to some basic normalization, so they can talk to each other.
Tell us about your Web Application?
Trying to develop a Medical Physics self teaching module for on-line learning that would automatically update our Continuing Education Credits.
Creation of Websites
Aesthetically appealing, good and reliable content (both accuracy and authenticity).
Point of Inflection
Working for Harvard partnered hospitals; Getting the ABR diploma; Being invited by JCAMP and Elsevier's to review manuscripts.
Opportunity to start career from beginning
I would get some more genetics related hands-on lab work. I have very strong and broad based Physics and Engineering background related to my area. However, I see a tremendous scope for applications in the genetic field, and the added experience would help.
What additional skills do you have?
I am one of those few and I would think rare individuals who has a strong Nuclear Physics and Engineering background; and have very deliberately and carefully built up my knowledge of all related aspects of Medical Physics, matched with professional experience from nothing but the best institutions.
Role & Responsibility: Before and Now
I am mostly concentrating on on-line work and editorial related work within my field. I needed to take time to spend with family and for myself, to explore my other interests.
After Five Years
God willing, in a very good place as a Director of a MP program and as a member of the scientific advisory board to the President in my field.
Your Achievement
Probably the only person having the distinction of being an ABR Diplomate who is also certified by the IAEA in radiation safety and protection.
My work on the GE FFDM prototype, while at MGH-Harvard.
AAPM Summer School Scholar and J. N. Tata Scholar.
Interview Tips
Think about yourself and how you stand out from the rest of the crowd.
Educational background
I have a Doctoral and Masters degree in Nuclear Engineering Sciences, with a specialization in Medical Physics (University of Florida);I also have a Masters in Physics from India. I am also ABR and IAEA certified; in addition I hold several certificates in various specialized courses.
Work Pressure and Deadlines
I step back, take a deep breadth and prioritize and focus. Drop everything else, if I have to. Ask for help when necessary.
Teamwork
My chosen field of Medical Physics by nature is multi-disciplinary and learning I believe is a life long habit. In a majority of institutions, the Medical Physicist is a loner. It depends on what I have to accomplish and the circumstances. I am a great team member as well as an independent worker.
