Family Background
I belong to a middle-class family. My Dad is a retired railway employee and Mom is a home-maker. I have an elder brother who is a Regional Planner by profession.
Contribution to the field
I work for a start-up. The employee strength is 5 and this is what makes the experience unique. We are more of a part of a family type rather than employees. We share our lunch and colleagues are no longer colleagues. They are friends.
Achieving Success:
As long as an employee is good in what they are doing, men and women things do not matter. Yes, there will be times when men try to dominate a women. These are the situations where the woman should try and excel more. Work is the only way by which a woman can stop the talking around.
Current job Description:
I worked with a top MNC.Life was good. But the spice of life was missing.I wanted to create things of my own. So,I gave up my settled job and trained myself to become an iOS developer.I stayed unpaid for 6 months, used up all my bank balance and now,I create apps.I am the creator I always wanted to be.
Book/Websites to go through:
I won't recommend any books. Experience is the best teacher. People should experience things in life. Unless you fail you will not be able to taste success. Its never bad to fail.
Professionalism:
You should be forthright with your thoughts. If there is anything that you are not comfortable with - Speak. Discussions can solve everything. If you don't talk, trust me the problem is going to grow.
Opinion on women leaders:
I think its great that Women have emerged into great leaders. The greatest Prime Minister of our country is Indira Gandhi and well, she was a woman. I think the main reason is that, they just don't think from their brain, they think from their hearts as well.
Accomplishments:
I was into everything since my school days,I have won a gold medal for my Zone. I am a graduate in Rabindra Sangeet.
I think my greatest accomplishment is my ex-colleagues admire and respect me for the very bold decision that I took of quitting my ex-job.Some even consider me to be their role model
creating differences:
I think its important for every organization to have women. Men and women think differently in most things, so they can bring in a fresh set of ideas to every issue we look at.
Career Decisions:
There has to be two:
1.I joined working as a Management trainee under an IIT Professor at IIT Kharagpur. My regular working hours there were 8am to 11pm which sometimes extended to throughout the night.Learnt loads about life and profession there.
2.Quitting an MNC to pursue my passion.
Suggestions:
Be bold, clear and upright with your thoughts. Also, clarity of thought is important. Follow your passion, do what you love, not necessary love what you do. Keep searching for your passion if you haven't found it yet, don't stop. And don't be scared to DREAM.
Doing differently:
I guess I wouldn't do anything differently.I have had certain experiences that have made me the person I am.There has been failures which has taught me and made me stronger.
During my initial days I wasn't very upright with my thoughts, I would like to change that.I would change that.I would TALK.
