Brief description about me
I am perpetually curious, incorrigibly sarcastic and extremely passionate. And I also manage to work for a living! I am a Business Manager handling sales and marketing at Octane Marketing Pvt Ltd. Octane Marketing is an email marketing service provider. After securing an MBA from NMIMS, Mumbai I worked with Firstsource Solutions for two years as a Strategy Analyst. I have been with Octane Marketing for 8 months. So that means I possess almost 3 years of work experience after completing education. I have also worked with a couple of startups as a marketing consultant.

Challenges in job
The biggest challenge about my job is to educate prospects and customers about email marketing. Since it is an emerging concept in India, there are several misconceptions which need to be clarified. Overcoming this challenge will help me to garner knowledge about digital marketing, develop consultative selling skill and be recognized as an expert.

Entry of foreign competitors in the Indian market and higher customer awareness about email marketing will be game changing trends.

My point of view
For a long time the educated youth have been under pressure to take up jobs which would pay them a decent salary at the end of month. This mindset has to change and is changing. Funding, mentoring and infrastructure support are also important to create an ecosystem which can create products. Students learning technology must be encouraged to be creative. Most either end up in  outsourcing companies or pursue an MBA or do both. This happens due to peer pressure and fear of failure.

My goal
Ensure high revenue growth for my company, help my clients earn healthy profits, write as much a possible on issues I feel strongly about and connect with influential marketers.

Advice to professionals
Read as much as possible. Be aware about what is happening in the world around you. Learn from other professionals and respect them. Be polite. Know the facts before taking a stand. Appreciate those who have grown in spite of being from humble backgrounds. Always think and act as if you own the company you work in.
Advice to students
Take up a job  only if you like the profile. Not because it pays you well.
