Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
I am a proud son of humble parents
Current and Previous Responsibilities
I turned into an Entrepreneur from being a Professional. After working with MNCs for 18 years where I was doing a well defined job, I now end up doing almost every thing right from opening the office in the morning to looking after finance, sales, future planning to being the face of the organisation
Plans for the Future
There is still a lot to be done in terms of building the Company and digital OOH industry. Any new concept needs a lot of focus on the product, its acceptability, operations, market development etc. I see myself as leading our team to take the Company to greater heights in the next couple of years.
Most Important Lessons
As a professional I learnt that the most important thing is to learn to manage yourself. If you are able to do that effectively then you can manage anything. As an entrepreneur I am learning that imagination is more important than knowledge. Imagination leads to creation of new products & businesses
Role Model
I was lucky to make acquaintance with people like AN Haksar and Prakash Tandon in my early career. They inluenced me a lot on the professional side. My brother Arun taught me the values a good human being needs to have and now my son Siddharth and daughter Rhea tell me what will work in the future.
A Fine Balance:
As long as you dont take work as an ordeal, it serves as a tonic for life. One has to prioritise what needs attention at the moment - work or family and fortunately technology today allows you to attend to both simultaneously or remotely through mobile telephony, internet, remote survellience etc.
Currently working at
I am the Founder of LiveMedia which in the last 5 years has grown to be India's largest digital OOH Company. I see my job as an orchestrator who manages a high performance team which is building a new industry. Since we have a young team, I spend time to ensure that their energies are well directed.
Most Important Decisions
The first was to work for Companies which were just starting up in India - I was one of the first employees in Ascom, Motorola and Nortel. The second was not to accept a longterm foreign assignment and the third and most important was to leave my reasonably good job and decide to be an entrepreneur.
Points of inflection
My marriage which suddenly awakend me to a sense of responsibility followed by the birth of my son and daughter which brough me hordes of good luck and an inspiration to do more.
