Important decision

The shift of my career from science background to something related to business mindset. Post my PG joining a MR firm was another critical decision. Driving force was forte in statistics and love for numbers. I believe that there is no point in pursuing something which you don't enjoy and thus there is never a wrong time to do a right thing

Couple of years from now

After having a diverse experience of research across various industries I would like to be a part of co creation of a brand. Two years from now, I see myself as a consultant providing solution to different strategic issues which different business groups are facing primarily related to product and brands

Important lesson learned

Focus is the key. You need to know where you want to go. If you don't know where to go then any road will take you there. Give your 100% in whatever you do without cribbing on silly issues and stay away from organisational politics. Introspect everyday about your achievements and look forward to make it better. There is always to learn from every situation and one needs to keep eyes and ear open for any opportunity coming on the way

Initiative to develop a country

Even a small contribution from we professionals could move mountains. With technology taking the lead there are numerous opportunities for those who want to make a difference. Social networking could be used for counselling, teaching, creating forums to educate mass on the learning and sharing experiences to start with. There are many NGOs which are seriously working towards this and one can be a part time member.

My achievements

I have an exposure to science, Finance, research, HR and I think that has made a lot of difference is shaping up my career. You need to have a 360 degree perspective to excel. Being a NCC C certificate holder, discipline comes to me naturally. I am not waiting for a big achievement to feel proud but enjoy what I do.

Qualities needed to become a successful leader

Honesty,ability to see the changes around and keeping the team motivated are the key qualities. A leader has to be a good listner and should know skill set of each resource to give them correct direction. Its all about the ability to use your available resources keeping the ethics and moral intact.

Brief description about me

I am a research professional for around 5 years now. Prior to this was into training and development for around 3 years. Completed my grad in Physics before pursuing MBA in Finance. Am an avid reader and like to do do data mining and quantitative analysis

My strongest skill

Deep diving into the situation to understand and then taking a back step to take effective decisions. I come out as a leader who is the part of the group and yet acting as a mentor. You need your team to sing the same tune and act as a member of the group

Influenced by

Sudden changes and failures influenced me. Having internal locus of control helps me to be firm on decisions and execute it well. Books of Vivekananda and being part for firms like this keeps influencing me to do good always

My role model

My father. His confidence and hope makes me come out of worse situation always. I also get inspiration from Swami Vivekananda thoughts and actions. Most difficult situations could also be handled in simplistic and easy way. Patience is virtue.

Ensuring success

Reading a lot. It take years for someone to write a book and autobiography. One can get the same experience in 5-6 hours just by reading. So I keep myself updated on recent developments and enjoy reading.

Thoughts on Education system of our country

Since my parents run a school I was fortunate to actually think about the discrepancies in education system. There should be benchmarks every 5 years in the system to identify the core ability of a student and customized training should be imparted. Counselling before secondary and senior secondary exams for choosing a career should be a mandate. Each one of us has a unique quality, present system lacks that skill to identify the same. India would be a different country if everyone work on that particular skill rather than getting a generalize education as it is today
