The Journey : Early Days to How I Got Here
It was an interesting 12 years journey, with majority of experience lies in the Aerospace Domain. Started my career with HAL as a Quality Engineer and today working in the capacity of Head of Quality. Worked with various organizations like HAL, Honeywell, Dell R&D, NXP semiconductors, Robert Bosch and currently with Cassidian (an EADS company)
Decisions That Mattered
Choosing the field of Quality is the one of the best decision I have made. I thoroughly enjoy my field of work and looking forward for many more years in this field.
The Turning Points
I can recollect the initial days, I started working with Honeywell. It’s been a tremendous learning and growth for me in terms of Airworthiness certifications related to DO-178B.
Work and Role: Then and Now
In my current capacity, I am responsible for organization certification for EN9100 and Design Organization Approval from DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) and Firm Approval from Military certification authority, CEMILAC (Centre for Military Airworthiness Certification). Represent India organization in Global Quality Improvement forums.
Two Years Down the Line
Aspirations and positive vibes keep me going and I am sure will take me to what I seek for.
What I Learnt Along the Way
Right exposure at right time will get the maximum benefits for an individual which I have experienced. It has always been a great experience to have a mentor who provided guidance as needed.
Trends to Watch Out For
Since, I have gained experience in aerospace domain, I wish to continue to acquire more knowledge of airworthiness standard and India is an emerging market for aerospace domain. As I said earlier, growth of an individual is based on the market segment opportunity to an extent and how this is perceived and approached by that individual. I always look forward for greater challenges which test my experience and expertise.
Must Focus Areas For the Future
• Expertise in Airworthiness certifications (Civil, Military)
• Supplier Quality
• Quality Management system consultants
• Certification consultants (ISO, AS, EN)
Do We Need Certifications?
It is of course feather in the cap. I believe that just by completing the certifications does not help; you need to implement/practice the same. Chose the most relevant and used certifications to your area of work.
• AS/EN 9100
• Aerospace Auditor Qualification
• ISO Lead Auditor Qualification
Books/ Websites I Recommend
There is no dearth of information in this modern world of internet. Nothing in specific I could recommend.
