Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
My parents stay in Kolkata.My dad is retired Govt officer and mom is housewife.Have a sister who is working in a Software MNC in Kolkata itself.I stay in Bangalore, got married one and half years ego .
Tech trends to watch out for
Mostly all the IT companies are nowadays looking for role specific recruitment.Automation in terms of scripting and at lease one type of high level language matters a lot if known.Domain knowledge has become secondary.
Required Reading
In testing scenario, ISTQB is exceptionally well for learning testing in deep.Should have a proper knowledge in HDLC models like Agile and Waterfall models.Industry is moving more and more in to Agile, so googling the details will be of immense help.Domain knowledge requires more handson experience.
Current and Previous Responsibilities
Currently I am responsible for one single product end to end .I am the only responsible QA for a product.The product release depends on me a lot.Right from the beginning of planning till release to the customer[except DEV effort], I am only respopnsible.Previously I used to work in team .

Points of inflection
I started to work in Storage domain.I was working in normal QA projects before that and basically to catch hold of a excellent domain was important right at the beginning.The day I started working in storage domain, it was a point of inflection for me.
Plans for the Future
I want to see myself as Product manager, talking to the customers ,knowing their needs ,co-ordinating to the engineering team.
A Fine Balance:
Its all about Time Management.I believe every planned steps in your day to day activities will give you a breather.
Most Important Decisions
I was in a service based company where exposure to storage domain depends on the outsourced project by client.The based decision I took was to move to a product based company in storage domain.
Essential Advice
Focus on QA methodologies.Start learning Automation and do hands on from the beginnings of your career.Make sure you are placed in a well known company as that will push you a lot in future.
Areas for the Future
ISTQB certifications.Certifications on topic related to your domain.
Degrees that Matter
Degrees might not help.Certifications will definitely help for knowledge.Do more hands on , that will help like anything.Your exposure to the team members, customer, training like time management, ertc are good learnings.
The Journey So Far
Got in to Patni Computers systems.Got trained in Java-J2EE.Was moved to Testing.Moved to different part of India where-ever Patni has offices.Worked for different clients.EMC as a client was notable.I moved to Mindtree Bangalore, got deputed to customer location[EMC].Now joined EMC 2.5 yrs back.
Changes in the industry
QA testing industry demands engineer specific to job nowadays.More and more attention is given to the Automation skill and then to domain.Software life cycle matters more or less to people withing 4 yrs exp.
