Could you tell us briefly about your family background?

I have been brought-up in a very discipline atmosphere where values and principles have always been given priority. My respected father Mr.Rajendra Prasas Soni is in government service as a ADO. My mother is a house wife. She has been a great source of motivation in my life. 1 Brother and 1 Sister.

Tech trends to watch out for

Currently I am looking towards Automation testing as market demand for automation testers with good exposure in tools like QTP, Load runner, Selenium, SoapUI etc

Degrees that Matter

Academic background of a software tester should be in Computer Science. A B.Tech./B.E. , MCA, BCA, B.Sc-Computers will land you a job easily. If you do not hold any of these degrees than you must complete a software testing certification like ISTQB and CSTE which help you learn Software Development

Changes in the industry

These days, it's not only about reporting functional defects in s/w and also about focusing on adding value to business and s/w development life cycle - inducing creativity to deliver quality. Earlier, it was more of a structured approach; but now the pendulum has swung in the Agile direction.

Essential Advice

If someone is interesting to start their career in the QA/Testing domain, I would advice him/her to keep in some points in their mind first is A career in Software Testing should never be considered as "second rated" and second is Software Testing is not Boring. Keep both myths away from your mind.

Most Important Lessons

I have learnt so many lessons from my professional life but one of the great lesson I learnt is “A goal oriented life is far more likely to lead to success than is a life that leaves success to chance. If you don’t know where you are going, you will probably end up somewhere else”

Most Important Decisions

Last year I was asked to work onsite in UK. Although there were some personal commitments to be fulfilled that time. I made my mind to grad that opportunity of onsite which resulted in terms of gaining confidence while face client face to face and work with client site.

Plans for the Future

Although I learned things working as a Software Tester, In future I see myself as a Senior Software Engineer in associated esteemed organization where I want to continue gaining experience, and after learning many different aspects,I see myself in management with all my enhanced learning and skills.

Parting thoughts

1. A career in Software Testing should never be considered as "second rated".
2. Software Testing could actually "test" your nerves, Software testing is not boring, have you ever spoken to a software developer with more than 3years experience ?He will tell you how boring his job has become off-late

Areas for the Future

Domain expertise is matter most in near future. Now projects in QA/Testing are coming with more specific to domain; that demands tester should have deep knowledge in those fields.

Current and Previous Responsibilities

Currently my role in associated organization is Software Tester and responsibilities are requirement analysis, document preparation, discussion on technical aspects with team, prep and execution of test case, raising project risks to client on time, bug reporting-verifying, daily status report.

A Fine Balance:

For many people, most of the stress they feel comes from simply being disorganized and procrastinating. I manage this challenge of work life balance by setting more realistic goals and deadlines and stick to them. It helps me to be less stressed, but my work becomes more better. I set daily goals.

The Journey So Far

I joined Sopra Group as a fresher just after passing college in 2010 => Trainings => Good project of Virgin Media => 5 months On-site to UK for new client Alcatel-Lucent. This was very good exposure I got in very early stage of my career. Now it is been 2 years of my career journey. So much learning
