Important lesson learned
I retired as Head of Department of Plant Biotechnology and right now I am an industrial consultant. Important lesson I have learned is never ignore any one and every one you meet has some thing to contribute in your life and career.
My family background
My wife is a Bio-chemistry professor and my son works for INFOSYS.
Brief description about me
I was born in a tiny village of South Indian state of Tamilnadu and acquired M Sc, M Phil and Ph D in Botany with a specialization in algology. I worked as a professor for 28 years and after retirement I took over as the director of Phycospectrum which is a consultancy company dealing with industrial effluent treatment using micro algae. I have commissioned effluent treatment facilities in a number of industries in India and abroad. Right now I am a member of core committee, expert committees of DBT, CSIR, DST and MNRE, Government of India on projects dealing with algal technology.
Thoughts on Education system of our country
Education system in India, especially the school education is destroying children. The importance given to marks in the written examinations has converted kids into machines and they become useless after completing school education.
Ensuring success
After retirement i continue to develop micro algae based technologies to manage a variety of industrial effluents and also involved in Carbon sequestration research and implementation in large scale.
Important decision
Decision to become an environmental consultant
My strongest skill
I do not depend on others for everything. I try to learn and apply on my own
My achievements
Implementation of the First successful algae based ETP plant at SNAP Industry in India and a joint venture with CORE BIOTECH of Columbia to implement algae based technologies in Latin America.
Couple of years from now
An important expert in the field of Algal Technology
