My views on India Technical development
No doubt that there is so much technical talent around, but coming up with products is not a joke. It requires entrepreneurs who are willing to take a lot of risks and then come up with the products using the technical talent. But I think the situation is changing now. There are many product startups coming up in the country. I am sure, India's tech startup ecosystem is quite good and hopefully we will see a lot more tech products coming up.
Handling Grievances
The best bet would be to talk with the employee and try to listen to him/her and get to know the feel of the problem and the sentiments surrounding it. Quite often most grievances of employees are not being heard of, either leaders are not ready to listen or employees are not ready to talk.
Current Job description
My job profile is more of an Research and Development specialist where I get to work with latest tools and technologies in the area of Software Testing. My role is to come up with new service offerings, product prototypes, products, product vision that can generate additional revenue to the organization.
Awards and Recognitions
Recently the product that we built got merged with a major Product Development Company. That was a major achievement.
My advice
Always raise the bar, both personally as well as for the team. Focus on the team, respect the talent, utilize the talent properly and never lose sight of the project/organization objectives, and think in the longer term.
Team Management
I generally promote a friendly team environment where there is plenty of focus on self organization and upskillment. I believe in an open culture where team members are free to interact with each other, share a lot of ideas with each other and voice their opinion to the management if needed.
Influenced by
Many great people like Sachin Tendulkar, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates have influenced me. Primarily because they are leaders in their respective areas and they are well known for their passion and innovation.
Tech Management matters more on
Tech Managers should provide technical leadership rather than managerial functions. Their role should be to provide strategic direction to the technical and technological roadmaps in the organization and its services.
Excellence in Management
Have been instrumental in building a product from scratch and taking it to market.
Ensuring Growth
Read a lot of technical articles, topics, latest technological advancements, share knowledge through blogs. The more I learn and share, the better I will become and will grow faster than expected.
Leadership qualities
I would rate "Passion for growing and making others grow and the community grow" very highly when it comes to becoming a successful leader.
