Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
I belong to a service class upper middle class family.My late father Sh Vasantrao Maheshkar was employed with Indian railways (S E Rly division )in commercial deptt.My mother Smt Malti Maheshkar is an house wife but she was actively associated with our small family side business .
Required Reading
There are numerous books and sites which can be referred to.In instrumentation field we have good books like Industrial inst by Littek.On websites one should go for ISA (Instrument society of america) to have thorough knowledge on subject.various periodicals like machinist can be referred.
Most Important Lessons
1.Be honest to your area of work.
2.Try to give more than 100% to your job demand.
3.Be polite and enhance the capacity to listen.
4.Always upgrade your knowledge by habit of readings.
Changes in the industry
Definately when I started my career there were no computerised system as are available now.The main advantage associated with this is faster solution available and saving time but you have to be vary careful before deciding the correct alternative amongst so may available.
Currently working at
Presently I am working as Manager-Instrumentation with HINDUSTAN ZINC LTD.Basically this is a mining and metal company VEDANTA group under able leadership Of Sh.Anil Agarwal.
I look after instrumenattion maintenence activities which includes planning,procurement,manpower management also.
Most Important Decisions
I started with a very small company in consumer electronics in 1992 .after working for 1 year I switched over to automation/instrumentation maintenence activities in Process industries and today when I look back ,I feel that was the most important professional decison taken by me.
Role Model
My role model is a common man.the reason behind that is he is the best manager on this globe who always makes us of available conditions and resources within his reach and majority of times comes out with flying colour.
A Fine Balance:
1.Always try to explain my position to family members,friends and relatives.
2.Try to listen and understand their grievences,complainst and worries.
3.Never feel small to accept my mistakes.
4.Try to learn new things from people frolm all walks of life.
5.Always keep last 1-2 hour for family.

Plans for the Future
Probably I would like to switch over to learing and developement field which will have blend of technical expertise and management functioning.
I weould like to help newcomers to industry regarding how to cope up with work pressure and job demand simeltenously
The Journey So Far
1.I started with a small consumer electronics company in mumbai in 1992 as prodn and qc engineer.
2.then joined ECHJAY STEELS rajkot as jr engineer electronics from 1993-1996.
3.Joined HINDUSTAN ZINC LTd,Chittorgarh as engineer inst and presently I am manager-Inst with same organisation.
