Part of a team of System Engineers from India, providing support
for Oracle On-demand and Oracle Corporation servers. Managing
customers' software environments across the entire Oracle product
set from E-Business Suite to database technologies. By providing
comprehensive services around availability, security,
performance, problem and change management.
Day to day
responsibilities:
Business Continuity Plan / Disaster Recovery
Plan, responsible for Intercity between India & US, critical data
replication.
Responsibilities:
§ Remote management of
Enterprise Storage Products (NAS).
§ Handling NetApp Filer
outages & escalations.
§ Performed DR backups using Snap Mirror
and also Oradata restore using snaprestore.
§ Vendor
co-ordination for NetApp Software & Hardware related escalated
Issues.
§ Creating and restoring Oracle Database snapshots on
the netapp filers as per user’s request.
§ Storage allocation
tasks include, deployment of a new host, creating aggregates,
creating volumes/cloning volumes, qtrees, creating exports
entries and netgroups.
§ Creating and restoring snapshots and
firing backups to tapes.
§ Filer load balancing by migrating
data to other filers (snap mirror, ndmp copy)
§ Firmware
upgrade, monitoring space utilization and taking immediate
necessary actions.
§ System administration tasks on
Solaris/Linux/NAS environment for Oracle On demand systems at
Oracle’s state of the art datacenter hosting world’s largest
Redhat Linux installation and NetApp NAS storage installations,
located in the Austin, Texas, USA.
§ Kernel and OS upgrades for
Linux (Redhat, SUSE, Oracle Enterprise Linux)
§ OS migrations
from RHAS 2.1 and RHEL3 to RHEL 4 and OEL 4
§ Hardware
migrations and upgrades from Dell 2650/2850 to dell 1950 and
X4100.
§ Other maintenance activities include Firmware
upgrades, disk replacements, hardware swaps, RAC conversions.
