Rajiv Shah

The administrator of the United States Agency for International Development USAID, Rajiv Shah leads over 9,600 professionals in 80 missions around the world. He manages an annual budget of more than $22 billon, as USAID is focused on eradicating poverty.

Born to immigrant parents from India, Shah received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and M.Sc. in Health Economics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining USAID, he served in a range of leadership roles at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. However, Shah’s nomination to the current post was confirmed by the United States Senate by unanimous consent on May 12, 2009.

Preet Bharara

Currently working as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, the Firozpur-born Preet Bharara was engaged in a number of high-profiled corruption cases, that include the insider trading case involving Rajat Gupta, former McKinsey head and a former Goldman Sachs director.

Preet Bharara who was nominated by President Barack Obama as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York was unanimously confirmed by the Senate in May 2009. Bharara was also on the cover of Time magazine this year for cracking down on some impressive corruption cases on Wall Street.
