US Climate Envoy on a Five-day Visit to India

John Kerry, the US Climate Envoy, has arrived in Delhi for a five-day visit to have discussions on shared visions of India and the US for green and clean energy.

John Kerry, the US special presidential envoy for climate, arrived in India on 26th July for a five-day visit. He briefly met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed the climate agenda and other related issues.

Mr. Kerry referred to his meeting with the finance minister as a constructive measure, addressing the significant capacity for India and the United States to work cooperatively with each other, advancing the climate agenda. A well-emphasized partnership between both countries allows for working together and making effective collaborations in science and technology to accelerate the transition to a clean energy economy.

Kerry also met with Mahendra Nath Pandey, minister of heavy industries, on his arrival in Delhi. They had a progressive discussion on India’s growth as a manufacturing hub for heavy electric vehicles. Following this, Kerry shared his interest and commitment to be in India as a communicator to advance shared goals on climate and clean energy.

The common interest in diversifying supply chains and empowering India in the manufacturing hub for electric trucks, buses, and heavy-duty vehicles was discussed in the meeting.

Kerry’s visit marks a shared commitment of India and the US to advance common goals on climate change and clean energy, alongside joint initiatives to create a platform for investments in renewable energy and storage options.
