Saurabh Sharann-finalist of Intel Talent Search Finale

Sharann from Bellarmine College Preparatory School of San Jose was taken aback after hearing the result as he never expected himself to be one among the finalists. Shrann did research on ‘Parameter-Free Graph-Based Nuclear Segmentation in Cellular Images Using Morphological Cues’. He used new computer algorithms which can count and identify cells in a culture, helping to replace manual counting methods. The benefits include reducing costs as well as time. "The best part of the whole experience was undertaking the project and learning about general approaches and methods used for formal research in academia. This is the first time I've ever done formal research’’, said Saurabh.
