Nimisha Shukla to Serve the New Jersey State Board Of Medical Examiners

New Jersey (NJ) Governor Phil Murphy, on Thursday, 21 April, appointed eminent Indian-American physician Nimisha Shukla to the State Board of Medical Examiners

FREMONT, CA: Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey named Nimisha Shukla to the State Board of Medical Examiners on Thursday, April 21. Shukla will be the first Indian-American physician to serve on the NJ Medical Board of Examiners under the Murphy administration. Shukla owns and maintains multi-location pediatric practices in New Jersey. She served as the Chief Resident at the SUNY Downstate Medical Centre College of Medicine and taught medical students at Michigan State University.

The Board of Medical Examiners in New Jersey is in charge of safeguarding the public's health, safety, and welfare. In addition, the board is in charge of overseeing several allied health providers. Shukla has also participated in the FCC's advisory council on diversity and digital empowerment and became the first Indian-American woman broadcaster after purchasing a radio station in the Metropolitan New York area. She has worked as a Chief Resident at SUNY Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine, taught medical students as an Assistant Clinical Professor at Michigan State University, and created and established a telecom e-commerce venture.

As a result of her procurement of a radio station in the Metropolitan New York region, Shukla became the first Indian-American woman broadcaster. She was a member of the Federal Communications Commission's advisory council on diversity and digital empowerment. Shukla founded Nrityanjali USA, a New Jersey-based institute dedicated to teaching Indian Classical Dance form named Kathak to new generations of Indian Americans. Dr. Shukla created Indian American Women Entrepreneurs Association and worked on local advisory and curricular committees. According to the press release, she is looking forward to serving on the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners.
