Sonia Dara

The Indian-American fashion model Sonia Dara broke into the modeling field at the age 15 when she competed in an actor, model and talent competition held in Orlando. Sonia was raised in Atlanta wherein her Indian origin parents supported her modeling ambitions as long as she maintained her grades in academics.

Fashion modeling isn’t an easy job and it wasn’t either for Dara as she went on to work with different agencies in different cities along with her schooling.

Dara says, “I try to take it as professionally as possible. There’s very quick turnover in the industry; if you slide down that slippery slope, there’s another girl waiting to take your place right away. Lots of talk about who’s in, who’s hot, who’s fresh.”

Sonia Dara, who’s gifted with beauty and brains, is the first Indian-American to have featured in the top-grossing ‘Sports Illustrated’ swimsuit copy. She was also spotted on the covers of ‘Cosmo Girl’, ‘Seventeen’, and ‘VogueIndia’.
