Arun Sharma, an Indian American doctor in Texas has been sentenced to 15 years for involving in a conspiracy with his wife, Kiran Sharma to commit health care fraud for medical care procedures, which is mostly related to pain management.

The couple has been involved in several health care frauds for more than 10 years in Texas. Recently, they even prescribed stronger narcotics like Oxycontin, morphine, methadone and fentanyl patches to patients. They started two medical centres, Arthritis Pain Centre in Baytown and Allergy and Asthma in Webster. They also billed Medicare, Medicaid and some of the private health care providers for joint injections, but these were never carried out.

Sharma is asked to forfeit more than $43 million by David Hittner, the District Judge of United States, including their home in Texas, which amounts around $700,000.
