Biden calls US Indian Relationship Cordial

United States President Joe Biden said that he has a "very good" relationship with India and has visited the country twice, as he left on a weekend trip to his home in Delaware

FREMONT, CA: As he embarked on a weekend trip to his home in Delaware, US President Joe Biden said he had an extremely nice connection with India and had visited the nation twice. The president informed reporters at the White House that he had received information about the three Americans who had gone missing in Ukraine. On this occasion, Biden stressed the fact that Americans must not travel to Ukraine. Further, he also emphasized that he cherishes the friendship between India and US and would visit the country again. Biden's statements come a day after State Department spokesman Ned Price said the US is there for India and highlighted that New Delhi's relationship with Moscow grew over decades when Washington was not prepared or able to be a partner of choice for the Indian government. Despite heavy American pressure, India and other Asian nations are becoming an increasingly important source of oil revenues for sanctions-hit Russia. Price was replying to a question about whether the US was talking to the Indian authorities. The US government has had several conversations with its Indian counterparts and they have also underlined that each country maintains a different relationship with Moscow.

As refiners acquire Russian crude offered at a great discount following the crisis in Ukraine, Russia has overtaken Saudi Arabia to become India's second-largest oil supplier behind Iraq, according to current industry data. Following President Vladimir Putin's order to invade Ukraine, India, the world's third-largest oil importer, and consumer, has long defended its purchases of Russian crude oil. Energy purchases from Russia remain small in proportion to India's total consumption. India's relationship with Russia has evolved over several decades. The State Department spokesperson explained things evolved over decades during a period when the US was neither prepared nor capable of being the Indian Government’s preferred partner. This is the result of a bipartisan tradition that dates back more than two decades. It dates back to the Clinton era, and certainly to the George W Bush administration when the US sought a partnership with India and aspired to be India's preferred partner, especially in the security area. This isn't a collaboration formed over a few days, weeks, or months, according to Ned Price. This will be a gradual process and the US government has made it clear that they are prepared, capable, and eager to collaborate with them.

The US government recently had a '2+2' conversation with the Indian partners. US has plans to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi again in the context of the I2U2, the agreement made with the United Arab Emirates and Israel, as well as India, incorporating India into many of the US partnerships, including, the Quad. the official also continued that it is a group that this administration has attempted to revitalize at very high levels. The US, UAE, India, and Israel have formed a new grouping called I2-U2 to re-energize and revive American partnerships around the world. The new grouping's four countries will convene their inaugural virtual summit next month. Japan, India, Australia, and the United States make up the Quad.

The Quadrilateral coalition was formed in 2017 by the four countries to fight China's aggressive behavior in the Indo-Pacific area.
