Washington Post Apologizes to Fareed Zakaria for New plagiarism Allegation
Bangalore: The Washington Post has apologized for coming up with false reports against Fareed Zakaria; for blaming Zakaria of taking quotes from a 2005 book, without giving credit to the author. The newspaper told that Zakaria "appears to have also published without attribution" a passage from a 2005 book.
According to earlier reports from The Post, Zakaria’s 2008 book, “The Post-American World,” carried a quote from former Intel Corp. chief executive Andy Grove about the economic power of America, without any reference to the source of the quote.
But now The Post has come up with apologies and said that they shouldn’t have published the article without proper examination of the two books.
The Post added that “this story incorrectly states that in the initial hardcover edition of his 2008 book, The Post-American World, Fareed Zakaria failed to cite the source of a quote taken from another book. In fact, Zakaria did credit author Clyde V. Prestowitz'' reports Times of India.
Zakaria responded to the allegations, calling it ‘totally bogus’. He also said "I should not be judged by a standard that's not applied to everyone else," he added. "People are piling on with every grudge or vendetta. The charge is totally bogus."
Just few days before, Zakaria was suspended by Time magazine and CNN after he apologized for plagiarizing sections of his column in the Aug 20 issue of Time.
