Bangalore:  Indian-American scholar directed an ironic anti-Obama movie, which has become a huge success in U.S box office. The movie entitled "2016: Obama's America” received a favourable response within the opening week and became one among the top ten movies in the United States. The movie has also created a rage in political campaign that has already started and has served as a toxic in the run-up to the Republican National Convention ahead of the Democratic meet to take place in Charlotte in the coming week, reports Chidanand Rajghatta of TNN.

The anti-Obama movie is made by a Mumbai-Born Dinesh D’Souza. This movie is a corrosive anti-Obama documentary that has managed to secure 7th position in the movie sweepstakes and mainly got much attention due to the ongoing Republican Convention.

Though, the movie had released in limited places till mid-July, it is distributed to over 1100 theaters across U.S. and in domestic ticket sales, the movie has earned nearly $6.2 million for a total of over $9 million, according to industry data.

The estimated earnings from this documentary has compared well with the commercial movies like The Expendables 2 with $ 13.42 million followed by The Bourne Legacy with $ 9.33 million.

D’Souza’s directed documentary movie is a conversion of his previous written piece that includes ‘Obama's America: Unmaking the American Dream’ and ‘The Roots of Obama's Rage’ that has been accepted by ultraconservatives and conspiracy theorists, even though liberals and Democrats criticized the writings as noxious and outright partisan against the president.

In general, the movie as well as the book debates that Obama follows a pro-third world view which he got from his Kenyan father and he is intentionally working so as to dilute America’s supremacy in the world.

However, the books and the 90 minute documentary of D’souza’s have keenly been promoted by Conservative Republicans that include the right wing media. Also, D’Souza has made his several public appearances through talk-shows.
