Deepa Gupta

Deepa Gupta, Program Officer for Media, Culture and Special Initiatives at the John D and Catherine T MacArthur Foundation in Chicago was nominated by Obama as a member of National Council of Arts recently.

Earlier, she was in charge of the MacArthur Foundation’s grant making in arts and culture in Chicago and is also behind organizing MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions. She designed a programme to financially support international collaborations and exchanges between art groups based in Chicago and those overseas, and organized a fund to support the capacity and organizational development of culturally specific arts organizations, which proved to be really successful.

Gupta, who previously served as a senior associate at McKinsey and Company
is also associated with many leading organizations such as the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois and is also there on the advisory board of the Cure JM Foundation.

Gupta holds an MBA from Kellogg School at Northwestern University and an MPA from the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
