1. Sunita Williams

Sunita Williams is the Deputy Chief of the Astronaut Office at NASA who holds the record of the longest spaceflight (195 days) among female space travelers. She happens to be the second Indian-American woman who got the opportunity to go to space after the Late Kalpana Chawla and now she is on her second space mission.

Sunita Williams along with Russian Soyuz commander Yuri Malenchenko and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency flight engineer Akihiko Hoshide took off their space journey on a Russian Soyuz rocket from Baikonur cosmodromein Kazakhstan, on Sunday. Williams will be returning on Nov 12.

William says that further understanding of how to live and work in space is the most important task lying before her, as a member of space station crew.

Apart from holding the record of longest spaceflight, she has two more records in her name (female space Travelers) - number of space walks (four) and total time spent on space walks (29 hours and 17 minutes).
