4. Webcam Spying Case

Indian American student Dharun Ravi was sentenced to 30 days in jail by a New Jersey judge, in the month of May.

Ravi, a former Rutgers University student was convicted for spying on his roommate Tyler Clementi, with a webcam, who was with another man. Tyler later committed suicide following the incident.

The charges on him included bias, intimidation, invasion of privacy and evidence tampering.

Earlier, it was estimated that Ravi will face up to ten years imprisonment and deportation to India, which was cut down to 30 days and then  to 20 days! 5 days was cut from his jail term for good behaviour and another 5 for doing work in the jail such as sweeping and wiping.
