Why You Probably Shouldn't Install iOS 8 Right Now

BANGALORE: Apple is likely to launch iOS 8 very soon. Though it hasn't confirmed a release date yet, it may be on September 19, after the iPhone 6 is revealed, reports Business Insider.

For people who have a new iPhone or iPad, it is time to upgrade  it. “But the only disadvantage is, the already-installed apps will face certain problems, if the app developers are not redesigning the app,” said Matt Johnston, chief marketing officer at app-testing company, Applause. Applause is a Massachusetts-based startup that does crowd sourced testing of mobile apps.

“App developers who make custom enterprise apps are waiting to see what Apple announces about new iPhone, iPad screen sizes, and the iWatch, on September 9, before rebuilding their apps,”  Johnston said.

He added that Apple has given developers a tool called "adaptive layout" which makes sure an app works on any size iOS device. That’s how Apple has encouraged developers to write apps for the new devices without revealing accurate details.

Still, some app developers don't want to use this tool. They think they can create a better app without it.

Johnston had sent some examples of these apps which were tested in advance by the Applause testers. The users are likely to see these kinds of problems with some of their apps when they upgrade.

Apple said iOS 8 will be compatible with the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch fifth-gen, iPad 2, iPad Air, iPad Mini with Retina Display, iPad Mini, iPad 4, and iPad 3.
