Tech Icons' Weird Habits and Hobbies

2. Name: Shigeru Miyamoto

Position: Head of Game Development at Nintendo

Weird Habit/Hobby: Miyamoto’s is a funny story of a boy who grew up to create games about things he enjoyed—sad thing is that most of his hobbies ended up as best-selling games for Nintendo. Apparently, the game ‘Pikmin’ sprouted from his love of gardening, ‘The legend of Zelda’ was inspired by his experiences of exploring caves as a child, his love of making music and playing the banjo and guitar gave way to ‘Wii Music’, and his love of solving puzzles gave birth to ‘Brain Age’.

And since the game company saw where that was going, it forbade him from talking about his hobbies; except one: Miyamoto also apparently likes guessing measurements of things he sees, and wears a measuring tape around his neck so he can measure up and see if he’s right. Nintendo probably didn’t think that hobby would be profitable.
