Outlining Architecture for better Applications


Bangalore: From a software architects point of view, the hard part is to build a working system as it is a job filled with big and complicated projects. Therefore India Software Developer Conference held in Bangalore was a blessing to all the Software Architects who were eager to gain more skill in Software Architecture.

Siva Guru, Head - Engineering Excellence Group, HCL focused on The Impact of Gen Y Applications on architecture where he talked more about how enterprise architecture needs to be based on the sound information architecture, agile way, contextual guidance for user tasks, Handle heterogeneous deployment environments and grow and deployed continually.

Shantanu Paknikar General Manager of Happiest Minds, Suriya Mohan Senior Technical Architect, at Aricent Technologies, Renganathan Kasthurirengan Associate Director - Global Applications of CSC, Shivakumar R Goniwada Architect Advanced - EAI Practices from Mphasis an HP Company and Rajesh Venkatesan Senior Architect of HCL Technologies threw some thought light on the Cloud Architecture.

Shantanu shared his insights and said that recommendations and best practices on private cloud adoption and also Cloud adoption and leveraging of existing data centre hardware / software investments can be complementary to each other - via private and hybrid cloud approaches. Suriya threw light on Adaptive Streaming & OTT Video and Content Adaptation Gateway. He also provided a physical demo outside the auditorium.

Renganathan concentrated on how the Platform as a Service (PaaS) revolutionizes the way applications are developed and deployed leading to greater business agility, accelerated speed to market and significant cost reduction in application development, deployment, run and maintainance. Shivakumar shared his views on IaaS Landscapes, Architecture, Characteristics, Requirements and Use Cases. Rajesh discussed more on Cloud Architectural Patterns.

HTML5 is showing signs of becoming a device agnostic development language with its associated web tools. While we don't see a clear winner in the MEAP space, it is only a matter of time that the technologies for mobile will consolidate around HTML5 said Saikumar Jagannathan, Principal Architect, Cognizant Architectures who discussed more on IT Consumerization, Industry Examples and Industry Examples.

Mahesh Somani, Distinguished Engineer and Ramesh Parthasarathy, Technical Architect from eBay shared his thoughts on Web-Scale Architectural Principles. They talked more about the Objective - to discuss the forces acting at web scale (billions of page views and petabytes of data), and few principles and patterns that can be employed for such problems. CAP theorem choices and tradeoffs; Some use cases can live with eventual consistency rather than immediate consistency.
