LinkedIn a business-related social networking site was founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003. It is mainly used for professional networking. As of 9 February 2012 (2012 -02-09) the company reports more than 150 million registered users in more than 200 countries and territories.

LinkedIn filed for an initial public offering (IPO) on January 27, 2011 and the IPO occurred on May 11 and was the hottest IPO that year. Its growth has been alarming in the past few years. It employees around 1, 800 people who receive extremely high pay packages, one of the highest in the market. They are surely doing the smart thing by tapping the talented.

 

2. Facebook

Average yearly salary: $111,428

Who today is not aware of the facebook success story? What started as a game in a Harvard dorm room has now evolved into one of the biggest brands in the world. Mark Zukkerburg created ‘the facebook’ with his college roommates and fellow students Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitzz and Chris Hughes.

Facebook has about 300 employees today who take home a huge pay cheque the second highest in the list. Another draw for employees is the work environment. Employees are not only given stock options but are also given flexible working hours. The work environment is free and open.

A brand which has the reputation of being ‘cool’, the work place and the pay package certainly matches up to the reputation. Way to go Mark!
