Google India's Great Online Shopping Festival Website Goes Bust On Day One
Bangalore: A blank page with the 'Hello World' test message was all that greeted everyone on the first day at the much hyped Google India’s Great Online Shopping Festival. It’s total disbelief, at the website gosf.in not loading, an embarrassing start to Google India’s initiative to boost the adoption of online shopping in India. It’s even more unjustifiable, given the limited 72 hour offer window on best deals from 241 players.
Google India has already apologized on Twitter for the failure of the website. “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to shoppers on gosf.in. We are working on resolving these technical issues,” said Rajan Anandan, VP & Managing Director, Google India.
Industry estimates draw up on close to 20 million online shoppers in India en route to 50 million backing a USD 16 billion industry by 2017. Google launched the festival bonanza last year to create awareness on online shopping in India.
“With over 200 million Internet users in the country, more and more Internet users are opting to shop online, fuelling the growth of both large multinational and homegrown companies”, Anandan said.
The urban Indian consumer will definitely need the site to be fixed first to gain from the great online deals.
