Bangalore: Kuljeet Singh, one of the pioneer in the Indian tablets industry passed away on 22 July 2012. On this ill-fated day, Singh, who was only 48, met with an accident in New Delhi and left the world. The founder of Datawind’s establishment in India was a great visionary. He believed that tablet computers could be used to help bring a better quality of education to the masses if could be made affordable. He helped start India’s tablet revolution by launching the low-cost tablet Aakash. This tablet formed a base to other low cost tablets in India.

Kuljeet Singh was a inspiring and kind leader. He was a soft spoken business person. He created for himself a reputation of integrity and humility.

He was very religious too. He was attached to ‘Amritwela’ and ‘Sewa’. He had spent each night in the last 30 years at the Golden Temple from 12:30AM to 2:30AM doing his prayers and volunteer service. An active participant in Kirtan, he regularly participated in numerous samagams in India and internationally every year.

It is certain that he’ll be missed but the tablet revolution he helped start in India will have a positive impact that will be remembered for generations.
