CIO Strategy Summit, Delhi: A Platform for All Innovative Information Officers
Delhi: The IT organization's relevance depends on its ability to leverage understanding of current business needs and future direction – and then deliver technology solutions and services with greater impact. This and more was discussed at the CIO Strategy Summit which was an excellent platform for CIOs to exchange information on current topics, as well as, interact with a variety of industry vendors which was hosted by SiliconIndia on April 13, 2012 at Delhi.
The event kick started with a panel discussion on “Forging Stronger Business-IT Relationships” and speakers were Sudhir K Mittal, CIO from Samtel, Tamal Chakravorthy, CIO of Ericsson, Virendra Bansal, Group CIO, Luminous Power Technologies. Karanbir Singh, VP & Head-IT, BSES, Reliance ADA Group moderated this panel. Sudhir was of the thought that any IT initiative should be TOP driven and there was a strong need for structured collaboration between IT and businesses. The CIO should have deep knowledge of business and under their prospective for presentation of any information.
Kshitij Mishra, Head of UC&C Solutions for India, Huawei Enterprise Business, gave an interesting perspective for the topic “Enterprise Mobility, Collaboration & Cloud: A New Horizon. Monetizing Platform as a Service and Implementation Models was addressed by Sachin Sancheti, Principal Architect – Windows Azure, Aditi Technologies.
While expressing thoughts on Information Security in the Mobility Landscape Uday Joshi, the AVP - Network Services of Vodafone said that the developments in the Mobility landscape is opening up unprecedented opportunities for a CIO to enhance the CIO/IT community contribution to business as also make it more relevant by making it more effective at a lower operational cost. In the bargain there is a huge risk profile associated with this facet which has to be mitigated to ensure the Enterprise data remains secure.
Alexander Zarovsky, Chief of International Business Development, InfoWatch, threw some light on the topic, ‘Innovative DLP, GRC & SMM Solutions for Indian Enterprises’. According to him most Indian companies as of today are still vulnerable in view of the fact that Data Loss Prevention & Protection (DLP) & Digital Rights Management & Licensing (DRM) still remain on being undiscovered for most of the organizations within India.
The summit moved towards its next panel on -The Business Impact of IT Consumerization, Mobility and the Cloud. This panel discussion came with a broad message that a trio of mega-trends in mobility, social and cloud computing are converging on the IT/business landscape today, as discussed by the panelists Jijy Oommen, EVP & Group Head -Technologies, Bajaj Capital, Romy Chopra, Senior VP IT, NIIT Technologies, Mukul Jain, CIO, DLF Pramerica Life Insurance. Alok Sinha, Head IT Solutions & SI Business, Huawei Enterprise Business Group moderated the panel. The next session was dealt by Sunil Sharma, VP Operations, Cyberoam on the topic, “Modern Day Internet Threats And Securing Enterprise Networks”.
The CIO Summit was a forum for senior level IT executives to engage in clear and focused dialogue with their peers and examine their management objectives in a relaxed and vibrant environment. The conversations between CIOs helped to validate CIO related issues in different manners. The best part of the summit was that it was a focused meeting for the CIOs and all of the discussions and topics were of interest and relevant.
