WhatsApp Likely to Stop Working at the End of 2016; Unless Upgraded

BENGALURU: Nowadays, WhatsApp has become a part of our everyday lives. From the time you wake up, to the time you sleep, WhatsApp has continued to take its stand as a basic necessity of communication. However, the bad news for the WhatsApp users is that it will soon stop working on millions of Smartphones, unless the phones are upgraded.

According to the economic times, the technology upgrade is going to affect one billion users using several old devices. For the BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 devices, the technology upgrade can even phase out the compatibility with the older phones. Whereas for iPhone user’s, WhatsApp will refrain from working on any iPhone 3GS devices and the devices running on iOS 6.

In the case of iPads, the WhatsApp service will also stop on any first, second, third and fourth generation that has not been upgraded yet. iPad users need a minimum update of iOS 9.3 to have the access of the service. Looking at the Android processor, phone or tablets supporting Android 2.1 or 2.2 Operating System will not support the revamped WhatsApp service.

Nonetheless, for those using Windows phone with windows 7 operating system, WhatsApp service may not work, unless you upgrade the phone immediately to resume the services. Moreover, the WhatsApp service providers are planning to extend the service for BlackBerry devices and Nokia users including Blackberry OS, Blackberry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 till the end of June 2017.
