Twitter Took Its Shot At Instagram, Facebook

Bangalore: Twitter on Monday came up with a stout reply to Instagram, introduced the ability to add color filters to user-uploaded photos, further escalating the rift between Facebook, which is now the sole owner of Instagram, reports Reuters.

The color filter mimics the booming photo service, the popular feature of Instagram. Though this new feature only affects a small slice of Twitter’s overall user experience, the move defiantly emulate the growing feud between Twitter and Facebook to take the reigns of social media space.

This move came days after Instagram cut its integration with twitter to display images and CEO of the photo sharing site Kevin Systrom said it was to drive visitors to Instagram’s own website.

Twitter said that its new feature is powered by Aviary, a New York based company that develops image-editing software for photo-sharing platforms like Flickr, among others.

Twitter's new photo effects will be available as updates on iPhone and Android apps, from Monday, the company said.
