Thinner iPads To Mavericks OS; All About Apple's Latest Launches

Bangalore: Apple launched a series of its latest products at an event held in San Francisco this week. The list includes iPad Air, iPad Mini, two new Mac book Pros and an improved operating system called OS X Mavericks. Apple also announced that it would give away the Macintosh OS and work software for free to its users, challenging Microsoft Corp head-on in the personal computing battleground.

Here’s a brief on the brand new gadgets that got launched in the recent event.

iPad Air

With 9.7-inch screen, iPad Air arrives with a thinner and lighter build than its predecessor iPad 4. According to Apple’s advertisement, this model is believed to be thinner than a pencil and weighs just one pound (0.45 kg), making it the lightest full-sized tablet in the market. The iPad has a screen resolution of 264ppi which remains same as its former version. The device has been redesigned to reduce the bezel on the side and now appears 43 percent narrower with a thickness of just 7.5mm while iPad4 was 9.4mm in size. iPad Air also houses a new A7 chip, similar to the iPhone5s, making it 8 times more faster as it is a 64-bit chip. With this chip on board, the developers are now into making 64-bit apps which would complement the gadget’s processing speed. Further miming the iPhone5s, the iPad Air has M7 motion co-processor which provides a 72 times faster graphics performance. Apple has kept the camera at 5 megapixels and also has a 1.2 megapixel front camera.

The iPad Air will go on sale on first of November. The new iPad Mini will be available at a still-to-be-determined date later in November.
