Techie Who Survived A Year Without Internet
Bangalore: Paul Miller, a 26-year old technology writer at The Verge, survived a year without the Internet, which is seemingly impossible. Neither did he read mails, nor type a word into Google or download apps, as per the ABC News.
Miller lived his entire year, a full 365 days where he never saw Obama tweet his re-election victory, a “Harlem Shake” video or had even seen a Vine. Miller wanted to find out more about himself and focus on some other activities. But he rejoined the digital world and reconnected the Wi-Fi on his laptop and iPad.
The source had spoken to Miller last year, when he was just starting his journey. Again, this year they decided to catch up with him to know what he learnt and what he’s looking forward to the most on the Internet again. He said, “I avoided looking at people's screens all the time. Even when people tried to show me Instagrams on their phones I always looked away. I didn't use the Internet for a year.”
In this one year he wanted to educate himself and read a lot and thus he got some reading and writing done. But he says he’s not a transformed person. Now, when he’s reconnecting back to the digital world, he’s looking forward to see the innovations and developments that he missed this year.
