Bangalore: Whether we have noticed it or not, pornography has never left technology out of its sight. In fact, a strange coincidence for the past few years was that of the Consumer Electronics show and the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo  being held during the same time in Las Vegas until the AVN decided to hold its expo sometime else for 2012.

A survey by Xbiz (an adult industry Trade magazine) pointed towards the future of the porn industry being entwined with mobile devices and tablet PCs. The survey, according to PCMag, didn’t specify the number of respondents (which included stakeholders such as adult site operators, software providers and the performers themselves), but the covered technology-related topics of 3D porn, .XXXX domain names for porn sites and mobile viewing of porn.

Porn has been pretty open to technological progress, moving quickly to VHS cassettes, the internet, and spanning over 3D games and other technology as well.

But the survey revealed that most of the porn industry is shockingly not in favor of 3D, the .XXXX, and strongly believed that the future of the industry was moving away from PCs and desktops.

Colin Rowntree, the owner of Wasteland, a porn site backed the theory saying “Porn viewing is sort of a solitary activity and most people have wives, girlfriends, children and other people in the house to contend with. What is really going to take off when there is sufficient market saturation are tablets, because they are cheaper than laptops and you can take them to bed with you.” “Over the next two years, I'd say that desktops/laptops will remain the primary porn viewing platform. Out more than five years, however, I predict that tablets and mobile devices will become the dominant platform,” he added.
