Paytm Introduces an Offline Payment Option for Users

BENGALURU: Living amidst the hustle and bustle of the demonetization effect, people across the country are finding innovative options to make their transactions cashless. Understanding the state of turmoil, Paytm has come up with a new payment option that allows users to transfer money through the Paytm app without the need of an internet connection. The new option will effectively allow Paytm users to process transactions with merchants instantly. It will also enable them to recharge their phones.

To start using the Paytm’s new service, users will need to register on the Paytm app using a smartphone. Later, registered users can call on the toll free number––1800 1800 1234––to set up a 4 digit security pin. After completing the initial process and adding money to the Paytm wallet, users will no longer need a smartphone to make the transactions.

For future transactions, the users can simply call on the toll-free number and enter the merchant’s number to which the funds in the wallet are to be transferred followed by the 4 digit security pin.

Although most Paytm users process their transactions with the regular internet-based options, the new option will be a relief for users who does not have a smartphone with an internet connection; when they actually need it for instant payment. Also, people who are not using any digital platforms for their transactions may also find the new internet-free option beneficial.
