Bangalore: It was not too long before that Pune was seen as pensioner’s hub. Later it turned into a cultural and educational hub, which the city still is. But in a recent development, the City is a home to the best coders in the country.

In a recent survey by Techgig.com, Pune has best coders in the country followed by Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad/Secunderabad and Delhi/NCR.  The website did not reveal about the methodology used in finding the results, so it’s quite hard to guess the influencing factors.

Pune is in many ways an ideal hub for programmer community. Though, she still does not have an IIT to boast of, the number of engineering colleges in Pune are humongous. Software companies and multinationals recruit thousands of engineering graduates every year directly through campus interviews.

During initial days of software outsourcing in India, cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, and others established themselves as the IT hubs. However with time these cities got saturated, in turn paving way for satellite cities like Pune to become next big thing in software development. “These cities provide abundant career promises, opportunities and are commercially well connected to major cities like Mumbai,” said Prashant Kr. Singh, Development Manager, Q3 Technologies.

Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore have a lot of games development studios and hence they are home for best coding talents. Singh also adds that these locations together account for almost 95 percent of the game development studios.

Mobile development is also another area where Pune is growing quite rapidly. The city currently has highest number of mobile development along with game development studios compared to any other city in the country.
