Microsoft Picked 11 Startups To Build Apps for Kinect

Bangalore: Microsoft Kinect, which created a storm in the gaming industry, has become bigger and better as Microsoft plans to revolutionize the gaming console and conjure some practical magic.

Microsoft selected 11 startup companies out of 500 applicants after a grueling process, for the Kinect Accelerator program. Techstars, which is a seeding investor for many successful startups, is also joining hands to fund $20,000 and free office space for three months to every selected startup.

Microsoft Kinect which was launched to enhance the gaming standards of Microsoft Xbox 360 is one of the most amazing gaming accessories in the current market. Microsoft’s plan to reconfigure Kinect and utilize its features to provide commercial services that target a wider range of buyers sounds highly optimistic, considering Kinect is already doing so well in the market. Some of the ideas proposed sound fantastic, but it is equally important that they are feasible and cost effective.

The 11 inaugural companies, as Microsoft calls them, are all in their embryonic stage and have very little corporate experience, but the amount of innovation and zeal that these Startups have in store can be overwhelming. While most of these companies are based in USA, others track back to European, South American and Canadian origin. The one thing that we find common in these companies of varied origin is the enthusiasm to make a difference.

Let’s take a look at what these Startups have in there secret bag:
