Intel's 3D Camera Debut At CES 2014

Bangalore: Few days ago, Mooly Eden, general manager of Intel's Perceptual Computing unit, stressed on computing needs to take on a more ‘natural’ approach and following that Intel introduced the chic 3D camera, with an index finger sized hardware. This creation is the first offering of the chipmaker’s new "Real Sense" brand of perceptual computing products. Elaborating the ‘perceptual technology’ Eden said that the company wants to develop products that will utilize gestures, facial recognition, and voice recognition to bring in a more natural and intuitive feel while using it.

This 3D camera is a power-packed product with abilities to recognize different foregrounds and backgrounds while video conferencing or video blogging, can ease 3D printing, can be used for simple screen navigation with the help of hand gestures, as well as track face position to redirect Google Earth images towards the user’s face. However, all this applications are already present in different forms through different technologies.
