Instagram Prepares To Roll Out Advertisements In Its Site

Bangalore: Online photo sharing and video sharing service, Instagram, is all set to introduce online advertising for the first time. They have also announced that their service has reached the 150 million user mark, reports Rohit Singh Jain of WatBlog.com

Facebook has helped in the development of Instagram since their acquisition of the service in April 2012.

Since after being acquired by Facebook in April 2002, Instagram has developed a lot in terms of being user-friendly and services. The company is said to be getting 2 billion ‘likes’ everyday on the network and has shared over 55 million photos..

Emily White, the Director of business operations Instagram, has clearly expressed company’s intentions to sell advertisements and are already working on the process, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The biggest challenge for Instagram now would be to sell something that they presently are giving away for free. The site has rolled out advertisements and at the same time must make sure that it won’t affect the photo sharing service.

This will require the company to work on strategies, as they cannot afford risk losing members. “Theoretically, Instagram could be making hundreds of millions of dollars today, but they would need a big sales force and they would risk polluting the environment,” said Brian Wieser, an analyst at Pivotal Research Group.

It’s clear now that White has been asked to work cut out for Instagram to gain money without affecting its growth rate.
