Infosys Board Member And Potential CEO Candidate Ashok Vemuri Quits

Bangalore: Ashok Vemuri, the board member of Infosys and a potential CEO candidate after S.D Shibulal’s term, has resigned. Vemuri was also the IT bellwether's head of Americas and global head of manufacturing and engineering services.

Reasons for Vemuri’s departure are not clear except a statement issued by Infosys that read, "Ashok Vemuri, member of the board, has decided to leave Infosys. Ashok has been an integral part of the Infosys journey over the last fifteen years. He has played a significant role in building the company's market leadership in the financial services and manufacturing verticals and in North America. We would like to thank him for his significant contributions to Infosys in different leadership roles during his career and wish him the very best."

The resignation comes within a week of Sudhir Chaturvedi quitting the company as head of its U.S. financial services business. The company's global sales head, Basab Pradhan, also resigned last month to join a start-up.

Meanwhile there are rumors on Vemuri running for the top job at iGate, whose CEO chair is left after Phaneesh Murthy was sacked.

Infosys has appointed Sanjay Jalona, the current regional head for manufacturing in North America, as the global head of manufacturing.

The rejig in the top management follows an organizational overhaul initiated in the company after its co-founder N.R. Narayana Murthy returned to the board June 1 as executive chairman with his son Rohan Murty as executive assistant in the chairman's office.
