Information And Broadcating Minister Calls In For Indian Made Set Top Boxes

BANGALORE: The Information and the Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar convened to the Indian manufacturers to produce set top boxes to deal with the enlarging demand of the cable TV digitalization drive asking for their suggestions through e-mails or Twitter to take the step forward.

Apparently, as per the deadline set up by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, the digitization drive should cover the entire country by the end of this year for which crores of set top boxes are required.

“I invite Indian manufacturers to produce and provide set top boxes for indigenization of digitization,” Javadekar posted on Twitter.

“Manufacturers may contact me on my twitter with hash tag #indigenization Of Digitization or email me at pjavadekar@gmail.com,” he said in another tweet.

“I’ll take the suggestions from Indian manufacturers to take #Indigenization Of Digitization forward,” he said in yet another tweet.

The erstwhile UPA government had embarked on the digitization drive for the cable TV sector, which required installation of set top boxes.
