Bangalore: The world economy may be going through tough times, but the number of Indians entering the multi-billionaires list, especially from the ever-charismatic tech world is on the rise.

In its latest “Rich List,” Hurun Report, a china based research house, released rankings of the wealthiest citizens in India. Here we list eight richest people among them who found their fortunes in technology.  

#1 Azim Premji

Personal Wealth: $12.3 Billion

Company: Wipro

Age: 67

Azim Premji, who singlehandedly took Wipro from a $2 million soap company to a $7 billion software company, is one of India’s richest tech czars. This Indian provider of Information technology (IT) services, consulting and outsourcing services has presence in over 50 nations worldwide. Premji owns 79 percent of Wipro and has been listed twice in TIME magazines 100 most influential people in the world.
