Google To Make Smartphones Customizable Like Set Of Legos

Bangalore: The set of Legos may bring back your childhood memories where you constructed any structures with Legos bricks that struck your imagination. Now Google is up to do the same with Smartphones, enabling the users to build the phone with their choice of specs, reports NY Times.

Motorola, the company owned by Google, said that it is moving forward with an experimental phone called Project Ara, which it says is a modular Smartphone platform. The idea of the phone looks like a set of blocks, each once making a component of the phone, which allows the users to select their choice of battery, camera, display and sensors, which can all be unplugged and easily replaced.

“We want to do for hardware what the Android platform has done for software: create a vibrant, third-party developer ecosystem, lower the barriers to entry, increase the pace of innovation, and substantially compress development timelines,” the company said in a blog post.
