Bangalore To Get Free WiFi Facility In 6 Months


BANGALORE: The government of Karnataka is planning to give a gift of free Wi-Fi to all the internet users in Bangalore. Earlier this year, Bangalore became the first city in India to launch free public WiFi at various locations in the city.

According to a report of eGov, S R Patil Minister for Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science and Technology, “Bangalore became the first city in India to launch free public WiFi, earlier this year. We are adding additional locations and we are planning to provide free WiFI facility in entire Bangalore and in all the district towns.”

Along with the free WiFi facility, the government is also launching a Brownfield ESDM (Electronic System Design and Manufacturing ) Cluster in the Electronics City, Bangalore. The project’s estimated cost is 80 crore, out of that 50 crore funding would be done by the Centre. Karnataka will provide about 19 crore and the balance will be contribution of the promoters, ELCIA and its member units.

A Common Facility Centre (CFC) will be provided by the Brownfield Cluster for the electronic industry players. The CFC will provide equipment to enable the firms to carry out various activities of electronics like designing, manufacturing, testing and calibration under one roof.
