Apple's Marketing Chief Blasts At Android

Bangalore: Just a day before Samsung’s flagship Smartphone running Google’s Android was expected in the U.S., Apple’s marketing chief Phil Schiller slammed the software calling it ‘fragmented’, difficult to use and that most users still use older versions of Android.

Schiller’s rare attack on the rival showed the extent of pressure piled up on the company that once remained an undisputed Smartphone leader.

In his interview with Reuters, Schiller said that Google’s own internal research showed that vast majority of users (about 50 percent) used older versions of Android and that Samsung’s flagship would run the same year old software which needs update. He also emphasized on the quality saying Android devices are given a free replacement with feature phones and that iPhone did not give this experience.

Looking back, this is not the first time that Schiller has commented on Android. Last week in a tweet, he has encouraged users to stay safe from Android malware, pointing them to a ‘Mobile Threat Report’ by F-Secure labs. Android accounted for 79 percent threats last year and Apple’s annual threat share only shows 0.7 percent as reported by Forbes.
